T-Shirts You'll Never Be Caught Dead Wearing

When I was in say, the 4th grade, painted t-shirts like this were in style - mostly because kids at my school made painted t-shirts at the library's summer reading program or at Girl Scout camp. Let me tell you a little bit about these shirts. First off, they were completely inflexible, and the only good thing about them was absentmindedly peeling them during Math class and chewing on the plastic paint. When the shirt got washed, the paint got looser. Nothing about painted t-shirts were even remotely fashionable, yet people still wore them.

I remember those shirts! I remember that I liked the way it looked when you peeled the paint off and the remnants were still there.

Yeah, I've done the paint-peeling thing, too! It's oddly satisfying, like picking at a scab when you know you shouldn't. I have several painted denim shirts with the designs painted in a heat-set dye that has lasted for years even through abusive washings. I can't seem to find the dye anymore, though.
