Ziggy Played Pianooooo

So last year one of the music stores in town was going out of business and had a gigantic pile of CDs for sale...from their bargain bins. All the good stuff had been picked through quite thoroughly, so most of the stuff left was El DeBarge, the Jerry Springer country album (which I bought) and a thousand Celine Dion albums (which probably should have been destroyed).
Hidden in this cache was a CD labeled Bowie Meets Bing. I did a double take, really. I am a huuuuuge Bowie fan - never cared for Bing, but their juxtaposition was intriguing. What the hell was this? HAD TO HAVE IT. And I was not disappointed, sir. At the time I had no idea this was considered a Christmas classic.

The script is pathetic - old Jonesy would have known who Bing Crosby was in real life...but truth be told, the Thin White Duke kicked the old ba-ba-ba-coot's ass in the vocals department, even coked up and strung out on smack.

You've never heard this one before? It's played every year on the radio at Christmas. It's like "Feliz Navidad" and that barking-dog version of "Jingle Bells"--it's awful, but you just can't help but listen when it comes on.

Nope, never heard it before! But then again...I avoid Christmas music like the plague. And I never listen to the radio.
