Corn stalks are just SO lazy! Everyone knows this. I swear, you have to get after them constantly just to produce a few ears of edible corn, and even then, they're likely to have corn smut on them.
Now BEANS are a trustworthy vegetable. Their reputation for hard work is impeccable! Why, just look at any garden, and you'll see the beans, working away like nobody's business while the corn just stands there, swaying in the breeze.
Tomatoes are fun-loving little devils, but they do get the job done once they get started, so we can't really complain about them much. Not like corn. Nope, can't trust corn as far as you can throw it.
