The Quilted Quicker Picker Upper

Sheryl Ann knew her hands weren't like all the other people's. They had petrified in this position when she was 12 years old. The reason? She stood on them too much. Her mania for walking on her hands crippled them for life after her extensive self-abuse. Because of her abnormailty, she was branded a "freak" in her small town (Grover Glen, MI, pop 603). To make an example of her tomfoolery to the other children in town, she was forced to wear quilted clothing by the less-enlightened City Council members. But Sheryl Ann took it all in stride, and even did a merry dance in her be-pompommed ensemble, much to the mayor's chagrin. She was a plucky girl, that Sheryl Ann!
