Recipe: Pie A La Italiana


From the 1969 Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest.

1 can of Pillsbury Refrigerated Quick Crescent Dinner Rolls
2 cups of monterey jack cheese, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
12oz. can of SPAM, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
1/8 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1 tbsp grated parmesan cheese
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1/2 c. olives

Unroll crescent rolls and seperate dough into eight triangles. Place 5 triangles in 8" pie pan, pressing pieces together to form a crust. Reserve three triangles for the top crust. Combine remaining ingredients in large mixing bowl. Pour into crust. Roll out each remaining triangle so the longest side is 8". Cut into 1/2" strips. Criss-cross strips over filling to form a lattice top. Flute edge. Bake at 325ยบ for one hour or until knife inserted 2" from edge comes out clean. Do not overbake.
