Recipe: Beef Fondue

from the 1969 Better Homes And Gardens Guide To Entertaining

Elegant beef fondue gives each guest an active role in your party. Each person spears a cube of beef tenderloin with a fondue fork, holds it in bubbling cooking oil until it's done. Then, after transferring the meat to a plate and cool dinner fork, it's dipped into any of a variety of well-seasoned butters and sauces. Have crusty rolls, a green salad and cake for go-alongs.

Susan, of course, being ever the brave soul--and probably having sustained more than a little brain damage after that fall down the stairs--preferred eating her beef cubes raw.
